Kline has taught at Columbia High School and chaired the Social Studies department. He served as director of Instruction and Secondary School Operations, assistant superintendent for Instruction and Learning, and assistant superintendent for Administration and Education. Over the past 10 years he has consulted with public and private schools, school districts, colleges, universities and state departments of education in more than 45 states and 10 foreign countries. Kline has done extensive work in the state of North Carolina as it worked to define more rigorous performance standards for all students.
