I went to Maplewood JHS and graduated Columbia HS in 1965. I am teaching in Ca. now but visit Maplewood every 2 years or so. I still have relatives in the area. The town still looks the same and the memories flow. Marc Brett <Marc_Brett@Hilton.com> Maplewood, NJ USA - Monday, November 17, 1997 at 17:11:25 (EST) Very pleased to find this beautiful web page when I looked up Maplewood. I spent the earliest years of my life there and have many fond memories. I attended the Jefferson elementary school and would have graduated from Columbia in the class of '48. I have tracked down some of my classmates and am hoping that I will see some communications here from them. Could we have a sub page for class years? This would be very helpful. Harry Whiitle <pilotharry@worldnet.att.net> USA - Saturday, November 15, 1997 at 23:32:44 (EST) I lived in Maplewood for over 21, went through school there and my parents still live there. I have also been on-line for over 5 years now, and I just wanted to say just how nice it is to see my hometown on-line! Mark R. Wickham <mortiis@slip.net> San Francisco, CA USA - Friday, November 14, 1997 at 14:40:35 (EST) I'm back for good! First moved into town in 1946. Have been back and forth several times, the last time was in 1990. Graduated CHS 1958. Living back in my original home on Elmwood Avenue, built back in 1840. During the past 51 years here, I've aquired 7 children, 7 grand children, and a life time of wonderful memories. In large part Maplewood played an important role in it all. Thank you Maplewood, you're a great town. Art Christensen <AJCCOMSERV@WORLDNET.ATT.NET> MAPLEWOOD, NJ USA - Friday, November 14, 1997 at 13:14:22 (EST) This is a cool homepage but a useful addition might be an e-mail directory of some kind. I'm having a hard time tracking down e-mail addresses of my old friends (James Astor, Adam Blecker(?), Chris Barnes, Matthew Spieser, Richard Solomon, Dan Stein, Mike Zimmer, and anyone else who might remember me.) Peter Baish <baishpt@jmu.edu> Harrisonburg, VA USA - Thursday, November 06, 1997 at 01:04:08 (EST) I came across this page while I was trying to look up the address for my old high school, Columbia, and it was fun to see pictures of the places that I was so familiar with. I went to Jefferson School, Maplewood Junior High (before it became Maplewood Middle School) and Columbia. I graduated in 1983 and have been back many times. Compared to Basking Ridge, Maplewood is pretty conjested but it was (and still is) a pretty town. Especially by where I lived (Ridgewood Road). I have such bittersweet memories of my teen years, growing up in Maplewood, but it was a treat to see this page. I will be back to visit soon. It gave proof that not all of NJ is as dispiriting as route 1 in N. Brunswick was. Its like a slice of New England and we are very happy here. Hopefully for many years to come. Duncan Rogers <DMR0625@aol.com> Maplewood, NJ USA - Sunday, October 19, 1997 at 21:16:53 (EDT) Thrilled to find this site. Hepworth Maplewood, NJ USA - Saturday, October 18, 1997 at 15:08:37 (EDT) I know that if you are supposed to write nice things about Maplewood in this, but I really don't have that many nice things to say. The only thing I like about it, is that I live here. I find Maplewood to ba a very boring place, withtoo many uptight conservative people. I'm sorry If i've offened anyone, but I felt that more than one side of Maplewood should be explored. Oh, and I hope Kings supermaeket goes out of business Paul Maplewood, NJ USA - Saturday, October 18, 1997 at 02:54:59 (EDT) What a nice site! My wife and I just moved here from NYC and love it. I have many fond memories of Maplewood all through the year, especially of the colors of the maple trees near Morrow Memorial Church. It's good to hear that the town is still a nice place to live. steve baetzner <steveb37@juno.com> largo, florida USA - Tuesday, October 07, 1997 at 20:47:00 (EDT) Terrific. I was pleasantly surpised to see such a nice homepage. Although I have not visited Maplewood for over five years, I have found memories growing up in this quaint town. I started at Tuscan School....Maplewood Junior High....Columbia H.S. (1967) and moved to Los Angeles in 1980. I remember ice-skating in the ponds at the park....If anybody want to chat, please e-mail me. Pamela (Shell) Thomas <thompj@aur.alcatel.com> Raleigh, NC USA - Wednesday, October 01, 1997 at 16:35:24 (EDT) As a resident of Maplewood, I think that this site represents us quite well. But I'd like to see more on the high school, and a picture of the park (Memorial or Maplecrest). Also, your depiction of Ricalton square <---------- makes it look quite large. (For anyone who doesn't know, it's not that big, around 20-30ft in area.Correct me if I'm wrong)... anyone wanting an insiders point of view is welcome to write me. I
haven't been back in years, so for now I guess this web site will have to
suffice. I agree with other guests, a photo of Memorial Park would be super. I
remember jogging along the park paths for MJH gym class. Any members from
Columbia High's class of 1969 out there?
I was visiting relatives there this weekend and I think Maplewood is a
beautiful and quaint place to live. An excellent web site for an excellent town... if this is what "construction"
looks like, I can't wait to see the finished product. If you would like
something about the South Orange Maplewood Public Schools, and particularly
Columbia High School written by someone not associated with the schools, but a
recent attendant of, I'm you man. It'll be 100% positive, trust me! I never
liked Columbia more than when I went to a New Hampshire high school... Very excellent website! Nice work -- especially the pictures and the way
you are bringing local businesses into it. Reading your site brought back great memories of playing frisbee in
Memorial Park, walking in the reservation, and more. I look forward to seeing
more pictures. Thank You! Your website looks great! Love the photos. Makes me a little homesick
for my hometown! Went away to college - never lived there again. Good folks.
Good town. How about a beautiful photo of Mplwd Memorial Park in full bloom.
Dark green pages a little hard to read. Nice job though! just looking at my home town. im in the navy and stationed in great
