Drone deliveries to homes

Sep 28, 2026 at 8:52am

The NYT has an article on the experiences in Richardson, TX.  Locals are not happy with dozens/hundreds of drones flying over their houses.

Does municipal government have the authority to ban this delivery method?

Has this issue been addressed in MSO?

In my opinion, there is nothing so urgent, that you must have 1/2 hr delivery.

Yeah? Did you ever run out of toilet paper during a bout of the trots?

What was happening in Richardson looked awful.  The noise, the nuisance, drones flying over your house, boxes dropped from several feet onto front lawns.  Just to get something a few hours sooner.

What kind if dystopian hellscape have we created?

Score another one for housing density.

Anything trying to deliver by air in MSO will have to navigate trees, power lines and being attacked by grackles.

As if Amazon road delivery doesn't come fast enough

I propose an app: Grackle Stop.

Will they be employing air traffic control agents?
