Thursday August 20th Update
A bit of a revision to today's forecast. The models have come into a consensus, moving the heaviest rain a bit further north and putting us right on the edge. It's still only a chance of a thunderstorm, but should we get a thunderstorm, it could produce heavy rain and possible small streamflooding.
Today, sun this morning becoming cloudy this afternoon. Rain likely, possibly a thunderstorm. Rain from any thunderstorm could be heavy. The national weather service has issued a Flood Watch for this afternoon. High today in the mid eighties, overnight low mid 60s
Friday sun and clouds, high near eighty low mid sixties
Weekend showers, mostly on Saturday
Friday Aug 21st
Today, a bit of a respite. The rain has moved off and the sun will come out soon enough. High in the low 80⁰s, moderate humidity, overnight low mid 60⁰s
Saturday clouds are back with chance of afternoon showers with the slight chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. High only in the mid 70⁰s, low mid 60⁰s
Sunday's a tease, starts out with sun and clouds but then rain and a chance of a thunderstorm
The early part of next week is looking lovely, with lots of sun Monday - Wednesday, highs around 80⁰ and lows in the low to mid 60⁰s

Remember to conserve water due to drought conditions. My grass hasn’t been this green in August in a number of years so don’t believe your lying eyes
Friday August 28th

sorry
Dolly would have wanted it that way. I saw that initial map that looked like a beeline at Puerto Rico and was thinking how horrible to potentially have another big storm hit. I know it was never projected to get that far as a hurricane, but it was still scary to envision.
Monday, August 31st
Dry today, then unstable weather for the rest of the week
Today, cloudy, warm, humid. High around 80⁰
Tonight, chance of showers after 6:00pm, low upper 60⁰s
Tuesday, hotter, humid, slight chance of showers in the morning, chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and especially in the evening. High upper 80⁰s, low overnight upper 60⁰s
Wednesday, showers likely, slight chance of a thunderstorm, humid, high upper 70⁰s, low upper 60⁰s
Thursday, chance of showers, then chance of a thunderstorm or two, high mid 80⁰s, low upper 70⁰s
Friday into the weekend could be nice, with only a chance of showers Saturday and temperatures in the upper 70⁰s, but too soon to be sure
What's happening this week is the same cold front could pass back and forth across the area several times causing instability with each pass. Generally we are on the edges of the worst weather this week, with NOAA's Storm Prediction Center (SPC) showing us in a marginal zone for storms as we sit at the southern edge of the westerlies, which bring warm wet tropical air into the northeast this week. (Marginal is even lower than slight)
At least the tropics are quiet and NOAA continues to forecast a farly quiet hurricane season
More flash floods? Why does it seem that every time we have heavy rains, there are cars floating in water in Newark or Elizabeth or rte 22? What’s up with that?

There is also a trend towards more frequent and more intense thunderstorms as our local climate shifts from temperate to subtropical

Happy Labor Day and remember to support your local unions!
Friday September 4th

Yesterday's humidity was insane.
