All good weather must end, I'm afraid we have a rainy week ahead
Every day from today through at least Thursday has a chance of rain, with with the most significant rain likely to be Wednesday into Thursday. Overall temps should be moderate for this time of year. We also are seeing a bit of smoke back in the area, the AQ index is moderate this morning.
Today, chance of showers in the morning becomes likely showers in the afternoon. Can't rule out an afternoon thunderstorm. The showers should tend to be brief but rather intense. Little flood risk, though. High mid 80⁰s, overnight low mid 60s
Tuesday showers likely, again thunderstorms possible. High around 80⁰, low upper 60⁰s
Wednesday showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High around 80⁰, low mid 60⁰s
This is another one of those setups where there is likely to be a relatively small area within the wider region (western PA, northern NJ, southern CN, NYC) that gets significant rain and wind. It's hard to forecast much in advance where exactly that will be.
Showers should continue Thursday, at least in the morning. High upper 70⁰s

The system was a slow mover, moving northeast. It's still raining this morning in the Hudson valley
When I looked out our second floor window last night I’m pretty sure I saw a school of fish swim by.
Wed July 29th update
All watches and warnings have been lifted as the rain moves out of our immediate area. That said, there remains today and tomorrow a chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm in the afternoons.
There have been reports of widespread flash flooding both locally and throughout the region, some may persist this morning along with downed trees and other obstacles so be alert driving today
Central Ave between Vally and Scotland was a lake again yesterday afternoon. Nice apartment buildings over there but way to floody.

that whole area was flooded. On meeker street there was over two feet of water. The Rahway river couldn’t take the amount of water, that’s why we had the raging rapids through memorial park also. If we ever get more than six hours of rain like that, it will be like hurricane Ida all over again.

From Sunday night through early Tuesday morning we find ourselves again in a setup that brings multiple showers and the chance of a heavy downpour. Much of the area gets a good soaking rain (the drought is slowly abating) but some smaller part of the region gets dumped on with a heavy thunderstorm or two. Although this system seems to be favoring the Hudson Valley and southern Connecticut for the heaviest rains, we are not completely out of the zone
